Wide skirt
won't apologize for anything
What for?
Why should s/he?
Silence
Long silence rolls
(Why for?
Why wound s/he?)

Warm hands held
round
empty jar
poured out last of life
Wind whistling through middle
gap singing so loud
Long lost dreams of wife
And salt water
drip
drip
drip
(Hold tight)
Sigh
Breathe now
Don't call s/he name
Speak no sound words
no cough
no rattle
no more
--
Silence
Long silence rolls
Sweep away what s/he can
Wide skirt
and sorry for nothing
